OPSO: 1.1 to 4,7 bar – PRV: 1.4 to 4.9 bar

DVGW approved: According to EN 16129/ CE approved according to 2016/426/EG

The Type 457 and 458 pressure regulators are single-stage regulators that offer a wide range of possible applications. The regulators can be integrated into all systems that require regulated pressure.

You can regulate an inlet pressure of up to 16 bar to a nominal pressure of 0.8 to 4.0 bar.

The Type 457 has a fixed outlet pressure and the Type 458 has an adjustable outlet pressure, both regulators are supplied with OPSO and PRV

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

The pressure regulator reduces the unregulated pressure from the liquid gas container in a single stage to 0.8 – 4.0 bar.
In the event of an impermissibly high increase in the outlet pressure at the pressure regulator, the response pressure of the overpressure safety shut-off valve (OPSO) is reached, which then closes automatically and shuts off the gas flow upstream of the pressure regulator. The respective operating status of the OPSO can be seen on the visual display.

Clear = open
Red = closed

If there is a further increase in pressure, e.g. due to the OPSO not closing completely, the pressure relief valve (PRV) automatically releases a limited amount of the gas flow into the atmosphere after the set response pressure has been reached.

TYP MDR-457 / 458 with OPSO and PRV

DESCRIPTION
The medium pressure regulator 457 / 458 is a 1st stage pressure regulator that reduces the unregulated pressure from the LPG tank to 0.8 to 4.0 bar outlet pressure. A safety shut-off valve (OPSO) and a safety relief valve (PRV) are fitted to the regulator as safety equipment.

A. INDIVIDUAL DESCRIPTIONS
1. safety shut-off valve (OPSO)
The OPSO is open during normal operation and has the function of automatically shutting off the gas flow as soon as the set response pressure is reached. It must be opened manually after closing.

2. 1st stage pressure regulator
The pressure regulator reduces the unregulated pressure from the liquid gas container to a fixed set outlet pressure.

3. Safety relief valve (PRV)
The PRV is closed during normal operation and has the task of automatically releasing the gas flow as soon as the pressure in the system to be protected has reached the set pressure.
It closes again automatically when the pressure drops below the set pressure..

4. Emergency supply connection
If necessary, the emergency supply connection can be used to provide an emergency supply from a gas cylinder by means of a connection hose.

B. MODE OF OPERATION
The pressure regulator reduces the unregulated pressure from the liquid gas container to a nominal 0.8 to 4.0 bar in a single stage.
In the event of an impermissibly high increase in the outlet pressure at the pressure regulator, the response pressure of the safety shut-off valve (OPSO) is reached, which then closes automatically and shuts off the gas flow upstream of the pressure regulator. The respective operating status of the SAV can be seen on the visual display.

Clear = open
Red = closed

If there is a further increase in pressure, e.g. due to the OPSO not closing completely, the safety relief valve (PRV) automatically releases a limited amount of the gas flow into the atmosphere after the set response pressure has been reached.

CAUTION! All activities described in points C, D and E may only be carried out by authorised specialist personnel.

C. ASSEMBLY
The pressure regulator is connected to the extraction valve of the liquid gas container with the POL connection according to DIN 4811-2, whereby it is to be supported on the container by means of the support device supplied.
It is essential to ensure that the pressure regulator is installed with an inclination of approx. 20° so that the ventilation openings point downwards (see note on the medium pressure regulator).

IMPORTANT! • Only use proper tools for assembly. • Prevent sealants from getting into the gas-carrying components. • Always counteract threaded connections with suitable spanners. • After assembly, a careful leak test must be carried out.

D. START-UP
Start-up is carried out by slowly opening the extraction valve on the liquid gas container.
If the OPSO has locked, the following steps are required:

  • Close the extraction valve on the liquid gas container.
  • Relieve the pressure on the pressure regulator (on the inlet and outlet side).
  • Twist off the plastic cap of the OPSO.
  • Pull out the OPSO tappet until it locks into place.
  • Screw the plastic cap back on Slowly open the extraction valve on the liquid gas container

E. Functional test of the container pressure regulator

  • Check the inlet pressure: test port G1/4
  • Checking the outlet pressure: test port G1/8
  • Set pressure and function test of OPSO/PRV: test port G1/8
During the test, the gas supply must be interrupted and the consumer unit closed. A safe and quick function test can be carried out with the “Müller test device”. A leak test must be carried out after each test.
