Classification
Container systems commercial & industrial

Low pressure regulator with safety diaphragm (AD) – PN 4
Mg: 60-80 kg/h or 160 kg/h
Pd: 29-100 mbar – OPSO: 70-160 mbar – PRV: 120-190 mbar

DVGW approved: According to EN 16129/ CE approved according to 2016/426/EG

The low pressure regulators type 820 to 824 are 2nd stage pressure regulators for LPG, which reduce the regulated pressure from the 1st stage pressure regulator to a set outlet pressure.

The pressure regulators are fitted with an overpressure safety shut-off valve (OPSO) and a safety diaphragm (AD) as safety equipment.
The NDR-820 to 824 is supplied with a pre-assembled thermal armature safety device (TAS).

The safety diaphragm means that no blow-off line to the outside is required.

The 1st stage is usually carried out via a medium pressure regulator MDR-815MDR-816 or MDR-817, which must be purchased separately.

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

The low pressure regulator reduces the regulated pressure from the 1st stage pressure regulator to nominally 29 / 37 / 50 / 67 or 100 mbar.
In the event of an impermissibly high increase in the output pressure of the pressure regulator, the response pressure of the safety shut-off valve (OPSO) is reached, which then closes automatically and shuts off the gas flow upstream of the pressure regulator.

If there is a further increase in pressure, e.g. due to the OPSO not closing completely, the safety diaphragm prevents the gas from flowing out unchecked.

Note: An output of 160 kg/h is only achieved at an inlet pressure of 4.0 bar.

TYP NDR 820 – 824 with Safety diaphragm (AD)

DESCRIPTION
The low pressure regulators type 820 – 824 are 2nd stage pressure regulators that reduce the regulated pressure from the 1st stage pressure regulator to a set outlet pressure. A safety shut-off valve (OPSO) and a safety diaphragm (AD) are fitted to the pressure regulators as safety equipment.

A. INDIVIDUAL DESCRIPTIONS
1. safety shut-off valve (OPSO)
The OPSO is open during normal operation and has the task of automatically shutting off the gas flow as soon as the set response pressure is reached. It must be opened manually after closing.

2. 2nd stage pressure regulator
The pressure regulator reduces the regulated pressure from the 1st stage pressure regulator to a set outlet pressure.

3. safety diaphragm (AD)
The safety diaphragm (AD) prevents a dangerous amount of gas from escaping into the installation room if the OPSO does not function.
installation room. A blow-off line is therefore not required.

B. MODE OF OPERATION
The low pressure regulator reduces the unregulated pressure from the 1st stage pressure regulator to a nominal 20 / 30 / 50 / 70 or 100 mbar. If the outlet pressure of the pressure regulator rises to an impermissibly high level, the response pressure of the safety shut-off valve (OPSO) is reached, which then closes automatically and shuts off the gas flow upstream of the pressure regulator.

Clear = open
Red = closed

Should a further increase in pressure occur, e.g. due to the OPSO not closing completely, the safety diaphragm (AD) prevents an uncontrolled outflow of gas.
Safety diaphragm (AD) prevents the gas from escaping in an uncontrolled manner.

CAUTION! All activities described in points C, D and E may only be carried out by authorised specialist personnel.

C. ASSEMBLY
Indoor installation “t”
If the pressure regulator is installed inside the building, a thermally triggered shut-off device (fuse) must be connected upstream of it.
It is essential to ensure that a blow-off line is led from the PRV to the outside. The ventilation opening or blow-off line must always be
must always be open, otherwise the OPSO will lock due to pressure increase.

IMPORTANT! • Only use proper tools for assembly. • Prevent sealants from getting into the gas-carrying components. • Always counteract threaded connections with suitable spanners. • After assembly, a careful leak test must be carried out.

D. START-UP
Start-up is carried out by slowly opening the extraction valve on the liquid gas container.
If the OPSO has locked, the following steps are required:

  • Close the extraction valve on the liquid gas container
  • Relieve the pressure at the pressure regulator (inlet and outlet).
  • Twist off the plastic cap of the OPSO
  • Pull out the OPSO plunger until it engages.
  • Screw the plastic cap back on
  • Slowly open the extraction valve on the liquid gas container.

E. FUNCTION TEST OF THE PRESSURE REGULATOR

  • Check the inlet pressure: test connection G1/4
  • Checking the outlet pressure: test port G1/8
  • Set pressure and function test of OPSO/PRV: test port G1/8
During the test, the gas supply must be interrupted and the consumer unit closed. A safe and quick function test can be carried out with the “Müller test device”. A leak test must be carried out after each test.
